Zen and Physical Strength

Zen, meaning meditation, originates from the Chinese word Chán, a transliteration of the Sanskrit term dhyāna. Zen has its historical roots in early Indian Buddhism, where deep meditation, known as samādhi, was identified as one of the three essential components of Buddhist practice, alongside ethical precepts (sīla) and nondiscriminatory wisdom (prajñā).

Strength without Zen is like firing a cannon from a canoe or putting a Ferrari engine in a Pinto. While physical strength can be achieved without meditation, the long-term consequences must be considered.

Zen, therefore, forms the fundamental basis for qualities such as strength, endurance, creativity, vitality, compassion, adaptability, and more, often associated with theoretical knowledge.

Zen is a path of introspection and observation, addressing the question 'Who am I?' Rather than seeking external definitions from books, focus on calming the mind, balancing emotions, and utilizing body, mind, and emotion.

Zen offers an optimal environment for cultivating physical and mental strength in life, enabling you to harness your innate abilities effectively. With the right support and freedom to explore, you can build a lasting foundation that benefits yourself, loved ones, and the community.
